First Full Day-Galway

*Disclaimer there was a delay in posting this blog platform sucks on mobile so I was not able to post for the first week! Grrrr Posting pics isn’t working which also sucks. Boo”

Greetings!
We have a few mins in the hotel before heading to dinner and WHAT A DAY.
First of all…driving here is truly challenging. Every turn goes against my natural instincts. Hahaha a few notes from yesterday:
Our plane was delayed almost 5 hours from LAX. Soooo we ended up landing after 7pm instead of 2pm which resulted in part of the 3 hour journey to Galway being in the dark. (Sun sets around 10ishhh) Our first roundabout experience resulted in me getting flustered at the wheel and us getting out at the wrong exit….and not knowing how to get back in it….so we just kept going the wrong direction and GPS got us back to the motorway after a detour in the countryside on a one lane road. FANTASTIC. Hahaha At least it was beautiful (silver lining)

Also, to backtrack sleeping on the plane was not really possible which was upsetting for a flight leaving at 12:30am. Haha
After checking in to the hotel we ordered Irish cheese and french wine and pizza for room service….sat eating and drinking at 2am before heading to bed to start our day at 7isham today. Woo!
Today we saw the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands…which are BEAUTIFUL!

The island we went to was Inis Oirr and that was cool. Below is a short vid on the boat with Inis Oirr behind me as we approached.

We took a carriage around the island and explored some castle ruins. The tour guide was so simple it was brilliant. “This is an Irish cow.” “This is a lake.” Etc…it was entertaining.

Also got to explore a shipwreck on the beach.

Boat ride to the island was awful for two reasons… #1 swells were huge and as someone who never gets sea sick I got close. #2 On the way back from Inis Oirr Merhawit and I found the perfect spot to avoid feeling sea sick–so of course someone standing near us puked and the wind sent it our way halfway through the boat ride. We proceeded to scream and go down to the bathroom to clean ourselves off while laughing hysterically because it was so ridiculous and fateful to have happened to us. Honestly, the luck of it.

Other musings…cows here appear much happier. I think its the scenery….which results in the best dairy and beef I have tasted. It’s my official theory. Some of the homes here have thatch roofs which I deemed really cool. Dry rock walls(?), I know I am saying that wrong are neat to look at closely. We saw some over 4k years old!

Oh! I have not had 1 bad cup of tea, which makes me consider moving. It down poors and then the weather changes in like 5 mins. People here have been lovely and very helpful. Locals use the words “Brilliant, Cheers, and lovely” often and I personally love it.
Now we are off to grab some fish and chips for dinner and hit a pub after!
